No Wires, Single Point Pain Therapy
The W-803 has the following modes of operation: we recommend the Pulse and Acupuncture modes

The machine will deliver short duration discrete ‘pulses’ of electrical energy, at a predefined delivery rate. The level can be adjusted on the unit.
The reason that such short duration pulses can be used to achieve these effects is that the targets are the sensory nerves which tend to have relatively low thresholds ( i.e. they are quite easy to excite) and that they will respond to a rapid change of electrical state. There is generally no need to apply a prolonged pulse in order to force a sensory nerve to depolarise, therefore stimulation for less than a millisecond is sufficient.
Acupuncture-like TENS uses stimulation at a low-frequency (usually 1–4 Hz), long-pulse duration ~200 μsec), the intensity can be varied on the unit. With acupuncture-like TENS, the intensity is increased to produce visible non-painful muscle contractions. Pain relief is believed to be produced by descending pain inhibitory pathways through the release of endogenous opioids. The electrodes should be positioned to produce visible muscle contractions (e.g., over a myotome related to the painful area). The patient will experience paresthesia and muscle contraction (twitching type) with this mode. As muscle contractions occur, additional sensory information is carried from the muscle spindle via muscle afferents (Aδ). It is desirable that the patient experiences motor contraction; therefore, the intensity should be increased until the patient feels this.
Note Always start your treatment with a Low level, and gradually increase it.
